Welcome to the third dimension! This week, Justin shares his 3DS joy with the rest of the crew. Tune in for Pilotwings Resort, Nintendogs + Cats, Steel Diver, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, AR Games, and assorted other bits. But for those of you not ready to embrace the future and/or past, Justin spins a delightful Monster Tale, Kaz and Tom lament over the disappointing Dragon Age II, Dr. Tony gets bit by the Pokébug and Nick is jealous of Tom’s Sword and Sworcery EP. Plus, wrestling slabs of meat, bankrupting Blockbuster, board games for rookies, Mario Party stigmatas and the best Mother’s Day ever.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think Dragon Age II only falters in comparison to the first game. I played about 6 hours of the first Dragon Age before I got kind of bored and frustrated with it. The second one sounded like it would appeal to me, as they were addressing the key features that caused that boredom and frustration. The problem is, they went WAY too far in correcting those–to the extent that the game became boring and frustrating in the other direction.
I loved the observation that they made “sci fi changes” to a fantasy game. I hadn’t thought of it in that context, but it totally makes sense.
