clemsIt’s time to check back in on The Walking Dead‘s second season! Kaz starts off the show with a spoiler-free look at the third episode, which leads the Pack into a reflection on the current state of morality of games. Kaz, Tom, Neil and Justin hit most of the narrative big guns and even a few you may have forgotten. Plus, Titanfall DLC, excitement for Tony’s impending nuptials and an enthusiastic endorsement for Mega Man V on the Game Boy.

The Double Dash!! Defense

Does Mario Kart: Double Dash!! deserve its black sheep status? Consider DK Mountain, one of its standout tracks…

DK_Mountain_-_Bridge_-_Mario_Kart_Double_Dash!!

From the moment Lakitu waves the starting flag, your two-man kart launches off the starting line, hurtling towards a barrel-shaped cannon at the summit. The track is tighter than anything you’ve seen in MK Wii or 7, and you trade paint with your opponents all the way up. From there, you’re fired to the mountain’s frowning peak. The rest of the race is a mad dash back down, with falling boulders and some of the tightest turns in the Mario Kart series. And if you’ve played your fair share of Double Dash!!, you undoubtedly know that last bridge before the finish line all too well. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been bumped off on the third lap.

haggarsIt’s about…time…for Capybara’s Super T.I.M.E. Force. Tom, Tony, Kaz and Justin are all thoroughly enamored with this ingenious take on the classic Contra formula, which was almost guaranteed the moment a dinosaur with a skateboard showed up. Plus, a very brief eulogy for the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, the surprise gem Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails, favorite “couch co-op” games (whatever those are), and mayoral chickens.

TRP 5/14/14: Missed Kinections

KinectsThis week, the Pack says goodbye to the Kinect. Yes, it’s still attached to every Xbox One currently on store shelves, but the writing is on the wall, and both Kaz and Justin have mixed feelings. But all is not lost, as Justin has the awesome Studio Pixel shooter Kero Blaster on his iPhone, Tony has more woods to explore in the Don’t Starve expansion, and Kaz finds a few more things to love (almost) in inFamous: Second Son. Plus listener questions about Nintendo NFC and Watch_Dogs.

golfsIt’s a week of highs and lows for Nintendo. The Pack kicks of the show by tackling the hideous PR response to #Miiquality and Tomodachi Life, which certainly drains just a bit of their enthusiasm. But then Kaz manages to decipher at least some of Mario Golf: World Tour‘s menus, and Justin falls in love with Kirby: Triple Deluxe‘s candy-colored worlds, and all is (not quite) forgiven. But aside from the controversy, there’s other good stuff: Neil contemplates the mortality of geometric shapes in Sometimes You Die, and Tony ruthlessly rolls the dice in Hitman Go.

hulksYou know who really misses Acclaim? Apparently, it’s these guys. This week, the Pack touches upon all your old favorites, like Turok, Krusty’s Funhouse and the unfortunate home port of Wrestlemania. But for those of you who aren’t connoisseurs, stay tuned for Justin’s deep dive into Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Kaz’s fine detective work in The Wolf Among Us: Episode 3, and Tony’s card battling tips in Hearthstone. Plus, Games for Change highlights, Mario Golf DLC “controversy” and a mysterious paint ball stain.

292sThis week, the Pack interviews Rocket Science Amusements’ Sam Farmer about his promising Last Life. He talks about Kickstarter funding, the post-post apocalypse, collaborating with family, D&D editions and early Sam Raimi, among other topics. As the time of this posting, his Double Fine endorsed game still has 16 days to reach its funding, so check it out! Afterwards, Kaz revisits Seattle in inFamous: Second Son, Justin makes after-school plans in Persona 4 Golden and Neil ponders what the big “Next Gen” game might be.

291smallYou’re not imagining things – the Pack is back to weekly podcasts, at least until they’re completely burned out! The guys kick off the show by answering your questions about the ill-conceived Conception II and free-to-play rumbling. Afterwards, Justin powers up in inFamous: Second Son, Kaz collects “Loot 2.0” in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls and Tom saves his cheddar in the Mother-esque UnderTale demo. Plus, assessing the local multiplayer renaissance, Fox Mulder’s multicultural forays and 4D dog sneezes.
